Gott 4 Gumball – Competition Entry
This is a quick and dirty video I shot for a friend of mine to enter the Betsafe Gumball driver competition. It seems that Ben has what it takes as he won the competition and, so he says in no small part due to the video! HD version of the video on the Betsafe site: http://bit.ly/bf1qyY
Shot on HDV, edited in Final Cut Pro.
Protruck Reloaded
Again, with my links to the Off-Road racing world, I found a small – read one man – racing team in the South West who needed some promotional help, after a few meetings to get some ideas together this was the fun, fast-paced item that he put out on message boards to generate interest in the behemoth of a truck he was building.
Interesting one for me, this was, as I was almost completely working with still images, something I’d not done since a build video for a TMC Off-Road racer a few years before.
As ever, Steve Christie produced a bespoke piece for this rocking build.
The Championship Extra – Setanta Sports
Before the broadcast platform that was Setanta Sports UK collapsed in the summer of 2009, I was in talks with their acquisitions department to produce a six-part programme covering the British Off Road Championship. To give Setanta a taste of the programme style and production values I offered in this 6 x 30 package, I shot and produced a pilot show. Part one of this programme is is available for you to watch above.
In talks with the organisers about foregrounding this grass roots British motorsport, as well as exposure on Setanta Sports, I also offered the option of VNR material to be fed to the Associated Press’ sports news service, SNTV for international distribution.
No one could have foreseen the collapse of the channel, least of all me. However, it is on exhibition here as a proof of concept programme, to show the capabilities of end-to end production Flat 10 can offer. I devised the programme concept and delivery style to provide a general access point of view to the intended audience, which was to reach beyond the hardcore petrolhead, this was a vital target demographic if the sport was to survive in an arena that was looking at the environmental impact of cross-country motorsports.
The editing style was that of a fast-paced feature programme, allowing a narrative thread to be followed through the course of the series as we detailed each leg of the championship and followed certain drivers through the 2009 season.
To get the right music for this project I again commissioned Steve Christie to compose a bespoke score for the programme.
This level of planning can be bought to your project. Drop me an email and chat.
Bowler promotional
In early 2008, through a good friend in the Off-Road racing world, I had 24 hours’ access to the flagship desert racer produced by Bowler, one-time makers of the Tomcat and Wildcat, their build now are designed for the harshest racing known to man – the Dakar rally. With limited time, I produced this short, emotive teaser that was offer for use on their website.
A quick-and-dirty SD shoot that was also a lot of fun. Not many people can say they’ve sat in one of these impressive vehicles – even if I had my eyes shut for most of the time I was strapped in!
Music for this again by my associate, Steve Chistie.
